Dear readers and fellow bloggers:
Good morning. Finally we got a respectacle burger joint in our neighborhood, akin to the best places of Brickell and Wynwood. This area of Miami is being populated by younger, more educated folks that aspire for something much better when they crave for an old-fashioned American classic. And it is happening before our eyes. Juanchi’s Burgers, a burger chain originally form Spain, has landed in the shores of this Banana Republic of South Florida, to regal us with their European touch.
Their location in Coral way and 12th Avenue sits on a dear spot in the Uruguayan part of our heart. For years it used to be the location of Zuperpollo, a fun resto owned by our friend Jorge Sánchez. After the owner had passed away, it had been closed for many years until this new venture came. We spent many great nights in that impromptu and exciting place, which had Jorge’s singing tangos and ballads, joined by the public in a karaoke-style. One of my hot Cuban dates (before I became a Monk of Medicine ) told me that it reminded her a lot of La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, Cuba.
The cooking area is impeccably clean, with the attention to every detail worthy of a surgical suite.
This is how the orders are presented at the table, with wooden (not plastic) boxes and canteen paper (like the tavola caldas of Italy)
Finally watch the pièce de résistance: the incredibly beautiful Ms. Audrey, its Venezuelan hostess. She took care of our order (and silly jokes) with sweet patience and even took some of these pictures. You will certainly feel right at home in this remarkable place; so next time you’re in Miami, visit them.
We beg God Almighty for one more burger served by this knockout and then depart from this world.
Ver a Audrey y después morir!
