Dear readers, listeners and fellow bloggers:
Good afternoon. We just had a very unpleasant experience when we tried to contact WordPress to let them know that we did not want any more ads or banners from Planned Parenthood in our site. There are two reasons for our measured, polite and reasonable request to get rid of them:
a) In our website we do not want to discuss any major political or religious issue, Fertility included. Sadly, our own political and religious beliefs might separate us from other folks and we try to be as inclusive as possible by avoiding those thorny issues altogether. There is no dearth of critical issues.
b) As you may well know we are practicing Roman Catholics (except for our son Gian Luca) and we do not want to participate in any media campaign, big or small, that goes against our Church’s dogma. We respect all the religious or non-religious beliefs, but they have to respect ours too.
Unfortunately there is widespread distrust against our Church (rightly so because it had abetted the horror of priestly pedophilia abuse in its midst) that seeps all across the society, media and beyond. The Automatic employee answered us that the ad might not appear in other places and we should not worry…We do not want it to appear in any jurisdiction. Period. Is that so hard to understand?
WE DO NOT WANT ANY ADS OR BANNERS FROM PLANNED PARENTHOOD IN OUR WEBSITE.
Note. This image of our son Gian Luca was taken in front of one of the remaining sections of the Wall Of Berlin where the late Soviet Premier Leonid Brezhnev engages in furious kissing with the late First Secretary of the Republic Democratic of Germany Erick Hoenecker. Total Totalitarian Love.
That snarky dismissal of serious objections from a customer constitutes a hubris redolent of the DDR.
Is it because, in spite of their bombastic talk about good service, we’re only small potatoes for them?
Will our name be relayed to the omnipotent Stasi? Oh…wait. A Trabant sedan has just screeched to a halt in front of our building. We hear some hard footsteps hurrying up our stairwell…They’re here.
There is only one tiny weeny problem. We live, work and study in the United States of America.
A blessed country where there is free expression and practice of almost all faiths and creeds.
Let us hope that God Almighty might open the minds of these silly apprentis de sorcier to that Reality.
Stay distant. Stay safe. Stay beautiful.
What do you think? Please tell us.
Don’t leave me alone.
