Dreaming of an Oktoberfest in Berlin

Dear readers and fellow bloggers:

Good morning. Today we decided to celebrate Oktoberfest with our son Gian Luca right at home, due to the still certainly precarious and possibly duplicitous status of indoor dining in South Florida. There was a good German Beer restaurant in Miami Beach’s Lincoln Road but it could not survive through the city restrictions. Scheisse!

We are both fans of German food and beer, having both visited Deutschland to celebrate there. In fact, the Teutonic people (mostly men of course) might seem “a little bit sour and rude” to us. But here is a little secret: most Germans will become human, once they get properly soaked with beer. Not only they will become rapidly friendly and merry, but also a tad sentimental, crying included.

In the above picture you can see Gian Luca standing in front of the infamous Checkpoint Charlie.

In the following one, you can see the grafiti mural painted in a piece of the Wall of Berlin still standing, where they depicted Leonid Brezhnev, the late Premier of the USSR, and Erick Hoenecker, the late dictator of the now blissfully defunct Democratic Republic of Germany, in a sarcastic pose.

Berlin is one of the most artistically-oriented major cities of Europe, where the muses of Imagination have blissfully taken up residence after the fall of the über-repressive DDR to cleanse citizens’ spirits.

Of course we love to admire the fair blonde and red-haired Mädchen, the Austrians being the best.

(Sigh) After long, long time ago becoming a Monk of Medicine, we can only watch them from afar.

Prost! Zum wohl!

Stay distant. Stay safe. Stay beautiful.

What do you think? Please tell us.

Don’t leave me alone.
