Dear readers and fellow bloggers:
Good afternoon and Happy Sunday. Today we decided to prepare in advance the Gnocchi of the 29th day of the month to follow our ancestral Italian tradition, as we have shown you in this article.
It has ben almost 6 months since the unexpected and tragic demise due to the Covid 19 infection of our dear Uncle José Luis in Montevideo and we miss him terribly; in fact one of the dedications of our new upcoming book Emotional Frustration – the hushed plague was made to his dear memory. Whenever we prepared a similar succulent dish with tomato sauce, meat and chorizo, he praised it by saying: “está para criar machorras.” It can be translated as : “fit to raise awesome tiger cubs.”
We prepared a sauce of san Marzano tomatoes, onions, peppers, minced meat, chorizo and walnuts. Together with our grandmother Yolanda and our mother Gladys, José Luis taught us how to prepare a fresh homely tomato sauce with a few ingredients. The chorizo is our latter day decadent addition.
Buon appetito!
Gracias querido Tío José Luis!
